Cover Description

A label is attached to the box cover that has dull brownish monochrome text and monochrome illustrations.

"HORSMAN'S" appears at upper left with a very tall "H". Below it at left is "TRADE" in a curve above "MARK" at left center. "TIDDLEDY WINK TENNIS" is at bottom, with a very tall first "T". On a banner below, the following text appears in smaller characters: "AND TIDDLEDY WINKS COMBINED." Below that is "PATENTED DEC. 9, 1890." at left and "COPYRIGHTED BY E. I. HORSMAN JR. 1890." at lower right.

A table at the center label shows a tennis mat and net from the game's contents. A man at left (black suit, mustache) is holding a squidger with his right hand, and is leaning than hand on the edge of the table.

Felt mat, 16 1/8" x 8 5/8" x 1/8", marked "HORSMAN'S TENNIS" on both ends in red. Outer background is yellow, then red line, then white line. Inside that are markings for a tennis court in green, separated by white lines.

One cardboard net, 8 5/8" wide and between 1 1/4" and1 3/8" high, about 1/8" thick. Two turned, finished natural wood stands for ends of net, shaped like chess bishops, 2" tall, 1 1/8" diameter semicircle base, 3/8" at top.

Black shiny painted wooden cup (1 7/8" diameter at top and bottom, concave sides with minimum diameter of 1 1/2", 1 3/8" tall)

One copy (copy 1) contains the following:

1 squidger (1 1/8" diameter): black, very worn light blue, worn yellow, very worn green, darkened offwhite, and broken red.

Winks (5/8"): 6 black, 6 blues with various levels of wear, 6 yellow, 6 pale green, 6 red, and 6 offwhite.

One copy (copy 2) contains the following:

1 squidger (1 3/8" diameter); red, yellow, faded/worn blue, and offwhite.

Winks (5/8"): 6 red, 6 yellow, 7 blues of various shades and wear, and 6 offwhite.
