The top label has an outer white border then black line.

The outer frame has clocks in the upper corners, each with a long pendulum down the sides; the left one shows 12:15 while the right one, 1:00. Between them are black profiles of mice, over each of which a yellow circle with a Roman numeral (from I through VI) is marked. Similarly, at the bottom of the frame are mice with circles marked from VII through XII.

Inside the frame is the main cover illustration, placed in a room with red walls, yellowish lower molding, and a green floor surface. |"CLOCK" Tidleywinks| appears in bluish white with black outline and interior darker shadows at top over the red walls. Five children are shown. At front left a girl (red dress, white collar and cuffs) is kneeling with her left arm outreached. Behind her to the left, standing, is another girl (yellow dress, blue bow in hair). To the right rear is a boy (blue navy outfit) leaning on his left elbow.

At the middle of the central illustration are elongated I-shaped white cards marked from I through XII are laid out in a circle on the green surface, representing hour markings on a clock. Inside the circle is a wide yellow pot with winks in it along with a variety of other colored winks, including one squop.

At lower right is another boy (also in a navy outfit) looking into the scene, holding a yellow squidger in his left hand on a red wink outside the clock circle. Behind him is a girl (white dress with white/red striped collar, with right hand pointing up into the air.

Copy 1 includes:

A clay pot (2 5/8" top diameter, 2" bottom diameter, with a slightly inward-angled side and a further angled base) that has been painted a very dark brown; pieces have been glued back together, so some of the clay color shows in the cracks.

Thick cardboard pieces (1 5/8" maximum width, 1 13/16" high), each printed on one side with a Roman numeral number from a clock: I, II, III, IIII, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII (in black with a red background).

2 crudely made natural wooden dice (9/16" cube) with red pips.

Squidgers and winks (bone) in various colors, not counted.
