The cover label has a white outer border, then a black line border.

The title, "BUTTERFLY STOP" (black with red echo shadow) appears at top over the pale yellow sky background, concave up for "BUTTER" and concave down for "FLY STOP". The letters "B" and "L" have extra curls.

The cover illustrates rolling meadows, with a boy (black top hat, black jacket, black half-pants, dark socks, red ties, wide white collar) at left, looking down, holding a butterfly net on a stick in his right hand. A girl (red dress with white sash around her waist, blonde hair, teal band on the top of her hair) is at right, looking at a red butterfly below and to left of center, with a butterfly net held in her right hand with the net held high.

Green trees appear sporadically in the background along the edges of hills. A lake appears just above center, with two boats on it. A house appears to the left of the boy's head, and several additional houses to the right of his head.

"TOKALON SERIES" (black) appears above lower right, with "TRADE MARK" (black) below.
