The bifold game board is hinged on its shorter dimension, measuring 34" wide by 10 1/4" high when open.
The game board depicts steps to travel from the start at Callao near Lima, Peru, across the Pacific Ocean to the finish at the Raroia archipeligo. Each step is marked with an arrow. Along the various possible routes are 8 rotating circles (called "whirlpools") that can be rotated to change the possible connections between route elements.
The game includes 72 counters, 24 each of red, yellow, and green.
Also included are four duty tiles: one each for fishing, radio, cooking, and equipment. There are 7 duty cards associated with each of those categories.
A cash tray is included for the overall pool of money plus a compartment for each of the up to four players.
In addition, a Kon-Tiki raft and 8 navigation certificates are included.
