Red cardboard cylindrical cup (3 1/4" tall, 1 1/4" diameter) with white circle on side and metal bottom.
Playing pieces ( 1 1/8" to 1 1/2" tall without base), each cut from multiple ply wood with an attached paper illustration on one side, and mounted on a wooden base (3/8" x 3/4" x 1/8"): a duck (Jemima Puddle-Duck), squirrel (Squirrel Nutkin), rabbit (Peter Rabbit), and frog (Jeremy Fisher), depicting characters from Beatrix Potter books.
Trifold cardboard game board (29 3/4" wide by 19 3/4" high by 1/16" thick; folds to 10" by 19 3/4") has a red back. At top: "PETER RABBIT'S RACE GAME" (black). At bottom left: "FREDERICK WARNE & Co. Ltd. London and New York" (black). At bottom right: "COPYRIGHT - All rights reserved". Race game has separate routes for each of the four players, who each use one of the playing pieces (Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Jeremy Fisher, and Jemima Puddle-Duck). Each route has 123 numbered steps. The start is at the center, marked "THE MEETING PLACE IN THE WOOD". Board has 24 illustrations of the characters in different scenes outside the player's routes. Some numbered steps have special behaviors that are described on the board, though most numbered steps do not.
