TIDDLEYWINKS.

DIRECTIONS.

THIS GAME consists of a cup, and one large and six small counters of each colour.

The large counter is used to press the edge of the smaller ones, thus making them jump forward.

The game is played on any ordinary table with a thick cloth on (as thick as possible). The cup is placed in the middle of the table, the players sitting round. Each player then selects his colour and takes his set of counters, the six small ones he places before him in a row about two inches from the edge of the table, but the large counter he retains in his hand to play with.

Each player plays alternately, his object being to shoot all his counters into the cup.

The first to do so wins.

The game may be played by partners if four or six players. Every time you get a counter into the cup you have an extra turn, or the game can be played without this rule, if it be the general wish of the players.

When the game is played with partners, they may play either their own or their partners counters. Partners must sit facing each other.

Any two pieces may touch each other, but when any piece jumps upon or in any way covers or rests upon another piece, even though it should be another of the player’s own pieces, both must be at once returned to their respective starting points to begin again.

If you lay this sheet of Directions under the cup you can play the game with the following variations:—Any piece in the cup counts two, any piece on the paper counts one. The highest score wins, and pieces if only just touching the paper, only count one and may not be jumped again.

Cover Description

A label is affixed to the cover with the cover graphics and text. The outer border is white, then a black outline. The upper background is pale blue for the sky.

"TIDDLEY" (concave up) and "WINKS" (slightly concave down), both in black with a white shadow down, appears across the top of the cover.

The main scene appears below the title, with a frog (brown and yellow) sitting with its mouth open, which is acting as a target for shooting winks; one white, green, and red wink is in its mouth, and another green wink is in the air heading toward it. Below the frog, on the grass, is a yellow and a red wink.

To the right of the frog is a narrow body of water. On the right side, a kingfisher bird (brown breast, green side feathers, blue back feathers, brown around the eyes, and yellow behind them) is standing, with one of its claws on a blue wink on the ground next to a red wink behind it. Two water lilies are in the water below the bird.

Tall grasses appear in the background.

"REGISTERED TRADE MARK" is shown on the white border at lower left.

One copy (copy 1) of this game includes nicely turned natural wooden cup (1 7/8" top and bottom diameter, concave side narrowing down to 3/16" up from the base, which is 3/16" wider around than directly above it) with two brown marked rings around the base.

One copy (copy 1) of this game includes a piece of green felt (4 3/4" by 4 5/8" by about 1/16" thick).

One copy (copy 1) of this game includes the following bone squidgers and winks:

Squidgers (1 1/4" in diameter): 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 brown, 1 white, 1 green, and 1 medium blue.

Winks (5/8" in diameter): 6 red, 6 yellow, 6 brown, 6 white, 6 green, and 6 medium blue.

Another copy (copy 2) is missing the turned natural wooden cup but has a nonoriginal, nonshiny purple wooden dice cup (1" top and bottom diameter, 2" tall, with concave sides) instead.

Another copy (copy 2) of this game includes a piece of green felt (4 1/2" by 4 1/4" by 1/16" thick).

Another copy (copy 2) has the same squidgers and winks as in copy 1 but is missing the 1 brown squidger, plus it has additional winks that are probably not original: 2 5/8" dull blue, 1 5/8" dull green, and 1 5/8" dull yellow.
