Instructions for playing the
TIDDLEY ROAD SAFETY GAME
This game is for two, three or four players and should be played on a table with a cloth or on the carpet on the floor.
Each player selects four small counters of the same colour, one large counter to match and one peg.
Having agreed on the order of play, players then attempt to flick their small counters one at a time into the cups from an agreed distance.
A counter dropping into the Green Cup entitles the player to move his peg four spaces along the road.
A counter dropping into the Amber cup means “Proceed with caution” and entitles the player to move his peg three spaces along the road.
A counter falling into the Red cup does not entitle the player to move along the road but he may have another go.
A counter missing the cups but landing on the board inside the blue line of the road between the road and the traffic signals entitles the player to move one space along the road, provided he has already during the game put one counter direct into ANY cup.
Should the player’s peg alight on a square marked with a traffic sign he should obey the instruction printed below against the same sign, moving backwards or forwards according to the Rule of the Road.
If a move means that two pegs, would occupy the same square the last to arrive moves on to the next unoccupied square.
When a player has flicked his four counters they should either be flicked again from the position in which they finish or returned to the original position to be used again.
The first player to reach FINISH is the Winner.

The top half of the cover has a background of alternating vertical stripes: from left the stripes are yellow then green; then repeating the pattern of red, orange, blue, green, and yellow; the pattern repeats to the right, ending with green. "TIDDLEY" appears across this top section, in red with a blank outline and shadow to lower right.
Beow, "Road Safety" is shown in script on an angled white banner at left, partially obscuring the letters "DD" in "TIDDLEY".
The bottom half of the cover has a green background. A hand with a blue squidger appears at bottom left, and at right is an angled depiction of the target (the red box bottom with the predominantly yellow build-up target) that has red, orange-red, and green pots on it. A blue, green, and red wink are flying toward the target with helical trails.
"AN EXCITING GAME FOR TWO, THREE OR FOUR PLAYERS" (in black) appears starting at bottom left.

The game target is printed on the box bottom build-up, measuring 7 3/4" wide by 10 3/4" high. It contains two parts: a race game and three plastic cups vertically at center.
The race game starts at lower left, where it states "START" above "FROM HOME". Each step along the route is either white or orange with about a 3/16" hole for the mover pegs; three are generally 2 or 3 white spaces for each orange one. Each orange space has an adjacent street sign or officer. The border of the route is blue. Various buildings are shown on each sign of the route, along with a river and a lake. The race game ends at lower right, where it states "FINISH AT SCHOOL". On the upper left side there is a bypass with white spaces.
Vertically up the center of the game target is a black rectangle, with a rounded-top rectangular white area at the bottom. The black rectangle has 3 holes (1 3/4" in diameter) in each of which a colored cup ( 13/4" top diameter, 1 1/16" bottom diameter, 1 1/2" tall, with sides that are slightly convex at top and concave only near the bottom) is placed. The top one is red, the middle one, orange, and the bottom one, green. "STOP" (in red) "TRY AGAIN" (in white) appears below the red cup; "CAUTION" (in yellow) "GO THREE SPACES (in white) appears below the yellow cup; and "GO" (in green) "FOUR SPACES" (in white) below the green cup.
The game comes with 4 plastic peg movers (9/16" top diameter where the peg is open, 3/16" bottom diameter which serves as the peg, and 5/8" high) in red, white, green, and blue.
One copy (copy 1) of this game comes with the following injection-molded plastic squidgers and winks with burrs:
Squidgers (1" in diameter); 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 medium blue, and 1 bright green (semitransparent).
Winks (5/8" in diameter): 4 red (2 opaque in the same color as the squidger, and two semitransparent in a darker color), 4 yellow (3 similar plus 1 slightly darker and thicker), 4 blue (3 opaque the same color as the squidger, and 1 semitransparent in a darker color); and 4 green (all opaque and a different color than the squidger).
