The rectangular box has a predominantly black background. The cover shows the letters of "TIDLEY" over "WINKS" appearing on various colored circles, with a yellow pot in the middle. There is no notch on the long aprons of the box top. The bottom of the compression-molded plastic cup is marked "5050".

Below is a yellow cup with concave sides amd protruding base. A yellow line is shown across the center behind the yellow cup. Below is "WINKS" with each letter on a different colored wink (yellow, green, red, blue, and green), on a concave-up curve.

Copy 1 of this game includes a dark brown (with dark mottling) Bakelite (or similar plastic) formed cup (15/16" top diameter, 1 11/16" bottom diameter, 1 1/16"" tall). Bottom is marked "CHAD VALLEY" (around top), "REG. DES." below, "TIDLEYWINKS" horizontal across the center, above "5050" horizontal below, "MADE AT" horizontal below, and "HARBORNE ENGLAND" around the bottom.

A rectangular cardboard target (6 5/16" x 4 5/16") is present in the box bottom with hole (1 1/2" diameter) at center for cup. A white ring border is outward from the hole, then a red ring marked "10" (in black) at bottom, then a black outline and a yellow ring marked "5" (in black) at bottom, then a black outline. The remainder of the right side is marked "2" (white) at right on blue, and the remainder of the left side is marked "1" (black) at left on green.

Copy 1 includes:

Squidgers (1" diameter, quality plastic, partially shiny, no burrs): 1 dull medium blue, 1 red, 1 dirty yellow, 1 green.

Squidgers (7/8" diameter, quality plastic, partially shiny, no burrs): 1 red, 1 darker green, 1 bright yellow, 1 dark teal.

Winks (5/8" diameter, quality plastic, shiny, no burrs): 6 red, 2 slightly darker red, 1 slighty lighter green, 8 dark blue, 3 bright yellow.

Winks (19/32" diameter, quality plastic, shiny, no burrs): 4 medium-dark green, 4 lighter green, 4 slightly lighter red, 3 slightly lighter green.
