The cover label has a white outer border, then a black line border.

The title, "BUTTERFLY STOP" (black with red echo shadow) appears at top over the pale yellow sky background, concave up for "BUTTER" and concave down for "FLY STOP". The letters "B" and "L" have extra curls.

The cover illustrates rolling meadows, with a boy (black top hat, black jacket, black half-pants, dark socks, red ties, wide white collar) at left, looking down, holding a butterfly net on a stick in his right hand.
