The square top label has a white outer border, then blue, then black line. Background of top three-quarters is yellow. Below the background is green and below, is a red surface representing a table.

"CARD HOUSES" (green with black outline, in italics) is at top.

Young girl (brown hair, long-sleeved blue top, black dress) is at left with left arm outreached toward a girl (brown hair, blue dress with white spots) holding a smaller girl (black hair, red dress) who is holding a card with the letter "L". Below is the red table surface with cards stacked 5 levels high. Boy (brown hair, orange long-sleeved shirt, black short pants) is sitting at table holding a card and looking intently at stack of card houses. Additional card letters sit on the table.

Some cards have a single notch into the top, others have a tab sticking out of the top. Each card has a capital letter, e.g. "A", followed by a lowercase letter, e.g. "a", on one side. On the other side, an illustration of something whose name starts with that letter is shown, along with the name of it, e.g. "Antelope".
