Odd or Even
Directions
This Game may be Played by Two, Three or Four Persons.
Cut the square "Counters" apart at the dotted lines, and also cut apart the larger “Odd or Even” squares. Players divide the "Counters" equally among them, and each takes one of the “Odd or Even” squares. If two persons are playing, first player then holds his square horizontally between his hands, or under one hand on the table, and challenges his opponent to “match it,” which is done by other play, holding his square in like manner, and both players raising their hands at the same time. If the squares match (being both “odd” or both “even”), second player demands a counter from his opponent, but otherwise must pay to his opponent one of his own counters. He then challenges opponent to match the square he next lays down. The game thus continues back and forth, until one player wins all the counters, when they are again divided and a new game begins. But if preferred, the game may be lengthened by the loser borrowing from his opponent and trying to win his own counters back. Four players proceed by same rules as two, except that partners are chosen, and first person out of counters takes one from his partner in order to play.
