Silver-embossed symbols (flags, cannon, tortoise and rabbit, horses, infantryman, airplane, airplane, runners, serpents, ship, spinner; cars) and a silver rectangle surrounding the cover label. The label has a black outline.

"THE BLUE BIRD," (red with black outline and gray shadow to lower-right) appears at top. Below "BIRD", "A FAIRY GAME" above "FOR CHILDREN" (blue with black outline) appears.

The cover is filled with an illustration of a boy and girl in the woods. The boy (blue jacket, red short pants, red shoes, green hat with yellow feather, dark hair) is holding a bird cage (yellow/brown, with conical top), looking up at a flock of 7 bluebirds, and holding hands with a girl (red cape, yellow/brown dress with white pattern, red and white hat, white shoes, blonde hair) who is also looking at the bluebirds.

The bifold game board measures 22 3/4" wide and 12" high when open, and has a plain red rear.

The label on the game board has a black/white checkered outer border, then an offwhite outer border, then black line, then pink border.

Five nearly circular ovals appear on the board. At left and right are trees and branches with a bluebird sitting on one. Between the ovals 8 bluebirds are flying about on a tan background. At bottom left are ferns and then two rabbits. Along the bottom is greenery. A girl (yellow dress, red hat and cape) appears left of center near the bottom and is holding her hand up where a yellow butterfly has landed. A boy (white vest, blue sleeves, red pants, green hat with white feather) appears right of center near the bottom and is holding a yellow/brown bird cage with a conical top in his left hand. A brown dog is shown at the bottom near the righthand corner.

4 cards (3 1/4" wide by 5" tall) each have circles with Roman numerals from "I" through "X", with a blue bird depicted at center, and "BLUE BIRD" above "X" above "HOME" in the "X" circle. The cards are provided in offwhite, blue, pink, and pale green.

A bone squidger and 4 winks are provided in a variety of colors.

A small green die (3/16" cubed) with white spots is included.
