Hare And Hound

This game is for two players – a Hare and a Hound. The object is for the hound to catch up with the hare, or the hare to escape the hound.

To prepare for playing – cut out the hare, hound, and the indicator on dotted lines. Bend hare and hound on double lines, so they will stand up (see illustration). The hare and hound are placed at their respective starting points. It is the hare’s first move. The hare and hound in turn progress the number of spaces indicated by whirling the indicator. Whenever the hare or hound lights on a space that has directions referring to it, the directions must be complied with. Odd numbers turned up in one-half speed stretch count as the near higher even number.

How To Make Indicator

With knife or shears cut out the Indicator (piece in corner with numbers on). Make a spinning top of it by inserting a small piece of wood (whittled to proper shape) through the center.
