The title appears across the top, with "PROGRESSIVE" at upper left and "HOP SCOTCH" starting below the "S" (letters that are brown at top and red at bottom, with yellow outlines). To the right at upper right is "TIDDLEDY" above "WINKS" starting below between the "D" and "L" (blue letters that are hatched with gray at top and light blue at bottom, with black line outline then gray outline then black line outline).
The main illustration appears in a rectangle taking up most of the cover. It is framed with a outer black line; a yellow frame at right and bottom; pink at upper right, top and upper left; and yellow again at left.
Inside the frame are four groups of people playing the game.
At left forefront is a table with a long tableclotch (with a red, yellow, and pink pattern). On top of the table is the yellow felt game surface, marked as for hopscotch. A man (gray hair, hands behind back, wearing a yellow/black-striped smoking jacket with a gray bowtie, white shirt, and gray jacket) is standing at left of the table. To his right is a woman (long red dress, yellow/black hair) facing away with her right hand on the table. To her right on the back side of the table is a floor lamp with a wide red umbrella-shaped shade on top, and then a man (brown hair, brown mustached, formal black jacket, white shirt, black bowtie) sitting at the table with his right hand on tit. To his right, an older woman (light blue/black hat, gray hair, pink/red frilly shawl around shoulders, brown dress below) is standing partially behind him. To her right a woman (blonde hair, long light blue dress with white trim from neck to waist) is sitting in a wooden chair, looking left, with her right hand holding a yellow squidger against a yellow wink on the hopscotch felt mat.
At lower right, 5 children are playing the game on a rug (red fringe, yellow and brown inner segments, and pinkish at center). The yellow felt playing surface marked for hopscotch is at the center of the rug. At left a boy (blonde hair, grayish-blue outfit with black/blue stripes around cuffs and collar) is looking right while kneeling and holding his left arm in the air. To his right, a girl (brownish hair, light blue dress with white collar) is looking on behind the boy and another girl (blonde/brown hair, red and pink dress, white collar, and pink subcollar) is lying down with both elbows and hands on the rug and is looking on. To her right is a girl (blonde hair, grayish light blue dress, light blue collar and cuffs) is standing in front of a wooden chair with red pads, which is in front of a tall green plant. She is pointing with her right hand to the left. Below her a girl (dark brown hair, yellow collar, pale orange dress) is sitting with legs crossed, looking down and to the left as she holds a yellow squidger on a yellow wink on the hopscotch felt mat.
At center rear is another table of players. To the left is another floor lamp, this time with a wide yellow umbrella-shaped shade on top. A bald man with a mustache is at left, sitting, then to the right another man with dark hair and mustache, standing, both facing slightly to the right. To their right is a woman (yellow dress, white collar) facing away and sitting in a wooden chair with pink cushions. To her right is another man (blonde hair, gray jacket and bowtie, white shirt) standing looking at the game on the table. To his right is a woman (blonde hair, light blue dress, white collar, white/light blue vertically-striped blouse) sitting and apparently shooting a wink.
To the right of that table of players, and behind the children playing on the floor, are gray curtains to the left and right of an opening to another room. In that room is another table of players, playing under a chandelier with round globes, with a yellow wall behind. At left appears to be a boy sitting and looking right, then a girl with short hair sitting and looking away, then another boy sitting looking forward, then a man (light blue suit, mustache) looking left, and another man (blonde, light blue suit) looking left.
To the left of the main illustration is a large round dull light blue squidger (with brown, light blue, and yellowish radiating lines) above a yellow wink, above a red wink, above a light blue wink.
To the right of the main illustration at center is a yellow pot shaped like a wine glass, with a curved top, thin stem, and wide base. Below it is a red wink touching the base at left, a yellow one touch the base at right, a blue wink, and a green wink squopping another blue wink. Above it are winks vertically lining up to enter the pot, from top to bottom: dark blue, light blue, red, yellow, pink, dark red, light blue, yellow, and orange.
"Published by Parker Brothers" over "SALEM, Mass" appears at center bottom in red over the yellow background.
At lower right, "COPYRIGHT 1891" over "PATENT APPLIED FOR" is shown.
The game comes with 4 glossy black-painted wooden cups. Each cup is 2" in diameter at top, 1 3/4" in diameter at bottom, and 1 1/2" tall. The sides curve slightly inward to about 1/4" in from the bottom base, which has two concave lower rims jutting out.
A variety of winks of various colors are provided with the game.
