The cover is made of dark brown cloth. Each corner has a decorative design, looking like a picture frame.
The title, "NEUESTES" above "Kriegs-Spiel.", appears in the center in a very dark brown.
There is no illustration on the cover.

The game board folds both horizontally and vertically in 4 sections, attached with cloth. It measures 32 3/8" wide by 25 1/2" high, and depicts a red army to the left of a river battling a blue army on the right side, with three bridges crossing the river.
There are two lightweight round metal stands (4" in diameter at top, 4 3/4" at bottom, 7/8" tall) with a 1/8" hole in their centers, and a top recessed by 5/16". These serve and two of the targets in the game. Fitting into these holes are two black wooden poles (6" long plus 3/8" peg that goes though hole).
An additional two lightweight round metal stands (2" in diameter at top, 2 3/8" at bottom, 3/16" tall) have no holes; these also serve as targets in the game.
Two shooter sticks (3 1/2" long, 1/4" in diameter) made on a plastic-like material are used to shoot the winks.
Two armies of winks (1" in diameter, cardboard) are included, one for the red army and one for the blue army. Each wink depicts men (such as a general or field officer) or military equipment (such as a cannon). Each army is stored in a decorative cardboard box measuring 4 1/4" by 1 7/8" by 1" high.
