DIRECTIONS.
The object of the game is to see who will first become the President of the Telegraph Co. Two, three or four persons can play—each using one piece or man, and moving it according to his spin of the arrow. Play and spin in turn. Each player must first spin 1, which makes him an “Applicant" for a position; and upon doing so puts his piece upon the Applicant space. Oh a spin of 2, the Applicant moves to the “Training School." On a spin of 3, he leaves the Training School, and takes his place on the ’‘‘Messenger Force," or entrance space. From this space he moves around the board in the direction of the openings and arrows, moving over the number of spaces shown by his spin. If he stops upon a space bearing words of command, as “Advance” or "Go back," in addition to the move for his spin, he also moves as thus directed. The first to reach the space "President” by the exact move wins the game.

The overall scene depicts a messenger boy (in blue uniform with two rows of buttons on coat, black shoes, blue cap marked "A.D.T." with a brown bill) running to the right down two steps with a letter in his right hand.
In the background is a plaza of orange/light blue stone and 3, then 2 steps up to a split in the stairs of over a dozen steps upward, one staircase to the left and the other to the right behind the messenger boy's head. The staircases lead to a building at right that is not shown on the cover.
"Game of" (in red) appears at left side of the cover to the left of the messenger boy's right elbow. "DISTRICT" (in red) appears at the left side of the cover on the cover to the left of the boy's left calf.
"MESSENGER" above "BOY" (red inner letters, golden outer fill, and black outline) appears below the boy's left foot at the bottom of the screen, with the "M" letter's right side extended into a curl below, and the "B" letter's bottom stroke extended left into a curl.

Behind the plaza and stairs to the building are trees, and behind them, a building in the upper left with 6 columns and a triangle on top, and to its right, two spires, with the blue sky behind them.
In the foreground, a shrub with red flowers appears at the left edge of the cover to the left of the messenger boy's letter. To his right are fan palms, red flowers in an orange/brown pot, and pink flowers below to the right. At lower left is a branch with red flowers of 5 petals each, with yellow at their centers.

offwhite, empty.
The game board is attached with the directions inside the box bottom. The game board measures 6 7/8" wide by 12" high.
The game board is a race game for players to progress to become the President of the Telegraph Company.
At the upper left corner of the game board is an illustration of two boys (brown jackets, one with blue pants, the other with light ones) standing on the sidewalk looking at a man in a blue uniform who is guarding the steps leading up into a building. Another boy (red jacket) is at the landing at top about to open the door to the building.
The board is divided into green squares with red borders (which have black barriers inside them). Some of the red borders are split so there is green between them connecting two squares; each split has a bidirectional arrow on it.
The game starts at lower left in the first green square that is marked "MESSENGER FORCE" (in red). The squares with job titles or advancements have red tex (e.g., "AUDITOR" above "Advance to" above "TREASURER"; the squares with negative actions have black text (e.g., "Claims and Losses" above "Go back to" above "INVESTIGATION").
At center is the finish, which has an illustration of an imposing, two story building with columns on both stories, and a man, woman, and child standing in front of it; the square is marked "PRESIDENT" at the bottom.
The upper right corner depicts a boy sitting on a bench, leaning over with his hands over his face, in a dimly lit prison cell.
The left and right sides of the label in the box bottom, to the left and right of the game board itself, are illustrations of a string of pink flowers.
The "DIRECTIONS." for the game are printed on the label at bottom, in red.
The game includes a square (3 9/16") cardboard spinner. Each corner has a different image of the District Messenger Boy in his blue uniform; in one corner he is holding a letter up; in the next corner he has his right hand to his eyes and is crying; in the next corner he is smiling with both hands on the yellow outer ring of the spinner; and in the remaining corner he is looking down with a grin. The metal arrow is 2 3/8" long and at maximum, 3/8" wide; it is attached at the center of the spinner. The numbers "1", "2", 3", and "4" (in white with black shadow) are each in a red quadrant of the circle. A yellow ring appears outside the red quadrants.
4 pawn-shaped movers (1" tall, 5/8" wide at base, 1/2 wide at top) are included, each of painted, nonshiny wood. The are provided in blue, natural wood, green, and red colors.
