"UNCLE SAM'S" (golden letters with a red then black outline) appears across the top, with each word concave-up and separated by an illustration of Uncle Sam looking down and to the left, with his white and red hat with white stars to his left, and has his hand on a sheet that fills the center of the cover with an illustration of a letter carrier (light blue uniform, white star on sleeve, black shoes, with a brown bag full of letters and its side with rolled-up newspapers, plus parcels on his back) who is holding a brown whistle to his lips, walking to the left.
"MAIL" (yellow letters with a red then black outline) appears at bottom center over the letter carrier's feet.
Another, smaller sheet illustration appears below "UNCLE" near the upper left, which depicts a coal locomotive heading to the right, spewing black smoke.
Below is another sheet, depicting a ship at sea, heading to the left, also spewing black smoke from its stacks.
Near the upper right, below "SAM'S", is a sheet illustrating a Pony Express man (red jacket, blue pants) riding a tan and white horse with "U.S." on the side.
Below it is another sheet depicting a pole with a control box on it (green).

tan/offwhite
tan, empty, with edges of offwhite wraparound label on box bottom.
The game board is square with a label affixed to it. The label has an outer red border, then black line, then green boder, then white border.
The lower left (and right) corner of the game board has a square with a black diagonal separating a red triangle from a green one; the green one has "1" on it; "DEAD LETTER OFFICE" appears in the red triangles.
The upper left (and right) corner has a similar square, expect it is marked "2".
Between the corners are illustrations of mail bags (dull green/gray), each marked "U.S.M." The bottom of the board includes two mail bags, a red rectangular area with rules, and then another two mail bags. The other three sides have 8 mail bags. Each mail bag has a city name under it, in black.
The "START" and "FINISH" are above the rules on the game board on a green rectangle marked "U.S. MAIL" and "DELIVERY". The green route connects via a green path with steps to the nearest mail bag place, which is
"NEW YORK". The route then connects directly to the adjacent mail bag place, which is "BOSTON". The green route then proceeds into the center area of the board, which has a yellow background, and then connects to the nearest mail bag place on the adjacent side on the left. This pattern of connecting directly from mail bag to mail bag, and then entering the yellow area with over a dozen steps before returns to the next mail bag, continues to the top center of the game board. At that point, the route becomes red, and parallels the route on the right side of the game board to the "FINISH".
The game comes with a square spinner with a circle (black outline, white ring, black outline, then 6 segments with numbers on them), then a black line, white ring, black thin ring, white outline, black outline, then a larger green ring, small black ring, and the center is where the metal metal spinner arrow is attached. The numbers on the spinner, clockwise, are "1" on yellow, "3" on light blue, "5" on red, "2" on yellow, "4" on light blue, and "6" (or "9") on red. The potion of the square spinner outside the outermost circle are dark dull red with a filegree design.
Colored wooden movers are included: 2 blue, 1 red, 1 and natural wood.
