The Harriers.
Do you wish to take part in a race? Take your places at the start and as soon as the flag is hoisted begin to run. To him who has covered the distance first, the prize is awarded.
2-6 persons can tdke part in the game.
The players put their men at the start on the drawn number. Each person must bear his number well in mind, for he is only allowed to advance on the course the number of which he has drawn by lot. Now the die is thrown by the players in succession. Each advances his man as many squares along the course as the die shows points. Arrived on a square before an obstacle, he must stop and may only take it, when its spots agree with the number of the course. He who reaches the goal first is the victor and receives 2/3 of the cash, the next two divide the remainder.

The game includes a thin cardboard game board (13 3/4" wide by 7 5/8" high) that has a white outer border, then a black line.
The game board consists of a racetrack with six tracks that starts near the lower right corner, where a red arrow points to the start line. The steps along the tracks are marked by black crosshatched lines. The first step at the start line has numbers from 1 through 6 (in black on a white circle), each within a colored ring: 1 (yellow), 2 (blue), 3 (yellow again), 4 (gray), 5 (red), and 6 (black). Each step along the racetrack is marked with a consecutive number, from 1 through 70. The racetrack curves around in an oval shape, ending at 70 at the right center of the game board. Periodically along the racetrack the steps for each track is marked 1 through 6, and the next one (except for the last) is marked with a yellow barrier (to be leaped over by the runner-player) across the next step in the racetrack.
Inside the racetrack is an oval illustration of 10 runners. The front runner is wearing white, one behind him wearing a black shirt and white shorts, and those in the pack of runners just behind the front runner are wearing black. Two stragglers are a few steps behind, one wearing a white shirt and black shorts and the other a black shirt and white shorts. They are running on a barren, flat surface of white and pale blue, with a gray sky.
The lower right corner of the game board depicts a golden triangle with an arrow through it. The lower left corner depicts a red circle with a thunderbolt through it. The upper left shows two black concentric squares with a black circle inside them. The upper right show a gray shooting star with four trails.
Six movers are provided in the game. Each depicts on a flat piece of cardboard (1 9/16" high by various widths from 1 3/16" to 1 1/2") a different runner with a number on his shirt or pants (from 1 through 6). Each cardboard piece fits into a slot in a natural wooden base (3/8" wide, 1/4" tall, and 7/8" long) to stand up and be used as a mover on the racetrack.
Also included is a black nonshiny wooden die (1/2" in all dimensions), with white painted spots. This die is irregular in its quality of production.
