The top label has a white outer border, then a yellow on, and a partial white one on the top portions left and right.

Across most of the top half is a red banner (rounded on the left and right, a mild point at the bottom) that has a yellow border following line with a mild curlicue at left and right and a fan at the bottom. "THE NEW GAME OF" (white, black border, black shadow to the right) above "RETRIEVE" (white, thick black outline, and then thick gray outline) appear on the red banner.

The main illustration has a light blue background. Filling much of the width is a brown table on which two playing schemes are placed, each controlled by players on the right side.

The players on the right side: a man (brown hair, brown suit, white collar) standing at rear, is holding two strings with each of his hands. Similarly, a woman (brown hair, yellow dres, red neck device, etc) is holding a separate set of strings.

On the left side of the table are spectators. An older girl (pink and white dress, brown hair) is sitting in a wooden chair with a white and black dog in her lap. Behind her is a man (dark hair, dark mustache), perhaps also sitting and watching. In the rear at left is a man (blonde hair, blue suit) and a woman (blonde hair, light blue long dress) also watching.

On the brown table, the rear dog (white with black spots) is facing left, and is standing on a green pad amidst two strings. The forward dog (white with black spots) is facing right, also standing on a green pad amidst two strings.

Below the table is a banner (yellow with light blue outlines) across the cover, with "The Player who gets his dog to fetch" above "the most sticks, being the winner." (in red).
